Big IQ Kids Giveaway! (Closed)

It’s that time of year again.  Just after the youngsters are back in school, it’s time for another Big IQ Kids Premium Package giveaway!

Big IQ Kids is an online interactive site that helps children, grades K-8, develop independent learning skills in Spelling, Math, U.S. Geography, and Vocabulary.

This is the 5th year that I’ve been using Big IQ Kids, along with our regular homeschool curriculum.  I’m particularly partial to the Spelling and Math programs.

Over the years, I’ve changed our curriculum to suit my kids needs (and my own sanity), but the one constant has been Big IQ Kids.  I’m able to modify the spelling lessons with the actual spelling words that my kids are learning for that week.  This has been terrific reinforcement when it comes time for testing.  My girls (5th and 3rd grade) do a spelling lesson each day on line.  They earn “game coins” to be used for the Big IQ Kids game section after they have completed their work each day.

And truth be told, I have been known to confiscate a game coin or two to play as well.  The games are awesome.

This is what Emme’s Spelling page looks like.  And she created her own Big IQ Buddy in the right margin using some of her game coins.

I have also relied heavily on the Big IQ Math Program to help Emme with her multiplication facts.  I thought we both were going to land in therapy over multiplication.  So, I simply modified her Math page to work on multiplication facts, and we systematically worked on one number a week, until she could get through all 20 multiplication problems with no errors.

And because multiplication is SO EASILY FORGOTTEN (as I will testify to every time I go in search of my calculator), we’ve continued to do a random multiplication review every day that we homeschool.  This could not be simpler to modify within the  Big IQ Kids Math Program.  And people, the child can now multiply.  Saving me many thousands of dollars in psychotherapy sessions.

We are using the curriculum, My Father’s World – Exploring Countries & Cultures.  There is a heavy emphasis on geography, and when we recently did a two week study on the United States, I was amazed how much my children already knew because of the Big IQ Kids U.S. Geography program.  If you are using My Father’s World – Adventures in My Father’s World (the study on the United States), you would love the Big IQ Kids Geography Program.

I cannot begin to tell you how much this program has helped us with our schooling.  I know of families that use it with their traditionally school kids to reinforce what they are learning in the classroom.

They’ve also added a new Family Spelling Game, which is great fun, especially if your family has a rather competitive spirit, like mine!  And if you think I’m totally cheating because, well, you know, COLLEGE, you would be wrong.  There is a leveling mechanism that allows a certain fiercely competitive 3rd grader to compete with her Spelling Bee Winner mother.

A Giveaway!

To celebrate back-to-school, Big IQ Kids is letting me giveaway a one full year Premium Bundle Package, which includes all 4 Programs – Spelling, Math, Vocabulary, and U.S. Geography (a value of $99.99)  And psst, they are offering a Back to School Promotion for $89.99 for 12 months for all 4 programs.

All you have to do to win is head over to the Big IQ Kids website, and poke around a little.  You can create a free account to get a sample of what Big IQ Kids has to offer.

Come back here and leave a comment on this post telling me which program you think your child would benefit the most from?

The States game would be wonderful right now since my kids are learning their way thru the states!

2 Krissy September 10, 2010 at 8:01 am

It’s so hard to pick because they all look great! I would say learning the states since we are doing that now and also the math. Math is an important subject in our house because we are math nerds

Oh my goodness, we are having fun with this site! Right now I love the state identification game, so I’ll pick that one.

6 Connie September 10, 2010 at 11:00 am

Definitely the math as my 7th grader is a little behind. We are playing catch-up this year.

Geography! I learn as much as my kids do!

8 Kristen September 10, 2010 at 11:12 am

Mine would probably do great with the math and the spelling… We are working on world geography right now, but the US geography would come in handy later.

My kids would definitely benefit from the math and spelling areas. I remember when this website was free for a limited time a few years back. We really enjoyed it then.

I think Geography. He loves maps and globes and all things like that.

11 Rebecca September 10, 2010 at 1:59 pm

I’m going to say Math (we can always use brushing up on the math facts) and geography. Neat site!

12 Renegades September 10, 2010 at 3:10 pm

My kids I feel would most benefit from the Math program.

13 Mim September 10, 2010 at 3:27 pm

Wow! I was just looking today for something to help my 9 year old with spelling. This would be great!

14 Jennifer September 10, 2010 at 4:09 pm

It’s a toss-up between spelling and geography … we are not very consistent with either of those!

15 AnnG September 10, 2010 at 4:18 pm

I think my little man would benefit most from the spelling program. We are still working through basic phonics so I think we are going to work through the “vowels” program right away.
Thanks for the opportunity and the plug once again. I had forgotten about this program and I know I will benefit from it this year!

16 Melanie September 10, 2010 at 8:10 pm

I have to say the maths program. My kids are kinda struggling with learning all their facts right now, so that would be great.

17 Jenny B. September 10, 2010 at 10:12 pm

The spelling. Oh, do we have spelling problems here….:-)

18 Julia September 11, 2010 at 7:51 am

Both of my kids struggle with reading, so either the eBooks or vocab series would be great!

19 Tracy September 11, 2010 at 10:02 am

Spelling and Math how cool!!!!

20 Jennifer September 11, 2010 at 8:44 pm

Spelling, definitely. My son hates writing because he struggles with spelling, so this program would be great!

21 Katherine September 12, 2010 at 3:12 pm

My son loves math so he would pick that. I like the state game.

22 Greta September 12, 2010 at 7:29 pm

Math and spelling. Those are the subjects that make me pull my hair out.

23 Stacey September 12, 2010 at 8:32 pm

I love it all! Right now math and spelling would be great! Did I mention math?

24 Karen McPherson September 12, 2010 at 10:24 pm

Definitely math and spelling!

25 Jen R. September 13, 2010 at 8:33 pm

Ooooh! I haven’t started teaching any geography yet, so I know the US States program would be especially helpful!

26 Leah September 13, 2010 at 11:36 pm

Big IQ has great subject matter. I would love for them to have the spelling portion. My 6th grader still needs help with multiplication tables so the math portion would be great for him…All my homeschoolers love history and geography (US geography, that is). We are learning state capitols so the geography portion would be great too! So many great choices!

Thanks,

I was just looking for a spelling program for my 7 year old!

28 Ginny September 14, 2010 at 6:54 pm

The spelling for sure and the vocab.

29 Brianna September 14, 2010 at 8:41 pm

math and spelling for sure!

30 Cheryl Gonzalez September 15, 2010 at 12:13 pm

We love to have some additional, fun, on-the-go computer work. We homeschool and always have subjects in tow, either traveling or just running errands. This makes it easy, when we may not have a certain subject with us, to get in a little Math, Spelling, Geography or Vocabulary. So, on the go road trips, as long as we get a signal, turn into fun lessons along the way for everyone in the car or hotel or wherever we may be! Thank you BigIQ Kids!!

I think my son would enjoy the math program. We’ve been taking it easy on the math so far (He just started Kindergarten) but he’s definitely hungry for more.

32 pam r. September 22, 2010 at 8:52 am

I would say the Spelling Game, since I didn’t find a good spelling book this year for homeschool
