Saturday Stirrings is feeling rather forced lately.  So that means I need to take a break from it for awhile.  In the meantime, I thought I’d share some things that have come across my desktop.

I you’re looking for a cooking carnival, my blogging friend Ann has a very fun one called Food on Fridays.  Check it out.

If you are in need of inspiration, go over and pour over Angie’s blog, Bring the Rain.  She never fails to move me with her raw honesty.  The blogosphere is brighter thanks to her.

I have a couple of go-to places for blogging information.  The first one is Top Mom Blogger (Trisha and Kim).  Subscribe to them.  AWESOME how to information.  For the beginning blogger and the well seasoned ones as well.  And those who still find buttons on their keyboard THAT THEY’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND WHAT THE HECK DOES IT DO?

Or maybe that’s just me.

The other go-to blog for terrific wordpress information is Cathy at Desperately Seeking WordPress. She has a teacher’s heart.  Love her.

Simple Mom republished her post titled Start Your Day by Eating a Frog.

“Eat a live frog every morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day.” – Mark Twain

While I had a difficult time getting past the title, she makes a very good point in the post.  And by the way, in case you’re wondering about the noticeable lack of frog content on my blog, the freezing Florida temperatures have greatly reduced our frog population.  I am now forced to look to my family for blog fodder.  And they are nervous. Rightfully so.

ATTENTION TO ALL MY BON-BON POPPING TELEVISION LOVING PEEPS: I’m doing some work over at BlogHer’s forum “TV Rants & Raves.” Which is so up my alley I can’t even stand it.  Thank you TiVo for your easy to work programing.  Would y’all pop on over and weigh in on your favorite shows? Especially you Losties.  And Survivors. Etcetera, etcetera.  I would so appreciate it!!!

Allrightythen.  Have a wonderful weekend!  AND HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

My Peeps

Because of my job as a Momspotter for BlogHer, I spend more time on Twitter than ever before.  At first I was intimidated.  Y’all know how WORDY I can be.  How can I possible fit a thought into 140 character.

Not words.

And I’ll admit that my 10 yo has attempted to educate me on text-speak.  I have no idea where she picked up this foreign language, since she is not allowed to TEXT, but she has some interesting shortcuts.

And recently when she tried it out on an English assignment, she was gently reprimanded by her English teacher.  Who also told her to eat her vegetables.

Texting takes me a sweet FOREVER, since I insist on adding semi-correct punctuation and applying most spelling rules.

So it’s an absolute miracle when I post a Tweet on Twitter AND can cram a complete thought into my allotted 140 character limit. Although a few have @Fiddledee’d me with a WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT?

The greatest surprise that I’ve found about Twitter, is the wonderful community.  IN REAL TIME.

I would never ever give up blogging, but I’ve found Twitter to be an extension of a wonderfully supportive blogging community.  (And you don’t even have to have a blog to play.)

So.  Twitter has recently created a LIST function.  I am able to group people to help keep track of Tweeps that I’m following.  I have a LIST called “gurlfriends” that I’m still putting together.  Get it, G-url-friends.

I slay myself.

This list is basically you all.  I want to make sure that if you Twitter, I’ve got you in my list.  So, I’m going to put Mr. Linky up below, and if you have a Twitter account (go here to find out how to set one up if you want to play), please link up.  And btw, Jo-Lynne of Musings of a Housewife has a WONDERFUL crash course on the basics of Twitter.  Go here to read it.

This will be a fun way for all of us to keep track of one another, and meet new peeps.

A Twitter Party, as it were.

Type your name (or Twitter handle) in the first blank, and put your twitter URL in the second.  For example, here’s mine:

Fiddledeedee (1st space)
http://twitter.com/Fiddledeedee (2nd space)

Help for Haiti

The images coming out of Haiti are horrifying and heart breaking. Many upstanding organizations are sending aid.  If you are looking into a way to help, please go to Samaritan’s Purse.  I cannot even imagine the hopelessness and fear that these people, who live in one of the poorest nations of the world, must be enduring.

•      New!  Smooshie’s Toy review and giveaway!

•      Yet another must see movie that will force me to buy a box of lotion-infused Kleenex.

•      Diaper Diaries (LOVE HER) wrote a sweet post, “Before I Was a Mom.” (Heavy sigh, as a put my tired swollen feet up on the table.)

•      I’ve been thinking about starting a container garden when the temperature drops below 120 degrees.  I’ve always wanted to compost, but have been put off by the high price tag of most composting bins.  Here’s an easy and inexpensive way to make your own.

I can totally do this.  I ain’t skeert.

UPDATED TO ADD:  I just joined the Crystal Light Water Way Challenge!!!  Go to my review page to see what that’s all about.  And you’ll learn my secret recipe for The Emergency Margarita.

For the love of all that is good, go look at the trailer for this movie.  I cannot wait.

There is a new episode of Mom’s Homeroom that discusses heading back to school.  Go check it out here.  And btw, we just finished our second week of our homeschool year, and no one is in therapy yet.  I just thought I should report that.

Fiddledaddy has continually e-mailed me this gal’s web address.  Not kidding.  At least 6 times.  I finally subscribed just to get him to leave me the heck alone appease him.  And, psssst, It really is a wonderful site!  FULL of information that I need to be implementing.

What is all the hype about Skype???  Fiddledaddy signed me up because he’s tired of me being 10 years behind the technological times.  Do y’all use it?  And for what?

Please lift my sweet friend Kelli up in your prayers.  This woman is my everyday inspiration to keep my eyes focussed where they ought to be.  Amen and amen.

Have a blessed week everyone!

This woman avoided foreclosure by being one smart cookie.  Or something similar.  I just want to applaud the entrepreneurial spirit!

Attn. Homeschool moms! Don’t forget to enroll your kids in Pizza Hut’s Book it! Program.  Your kids can earn a free pizza every month by reading books!  Homeschool families need to register individually, as they are no longer accepting registration from homeschool groups. The registration form can be found here.   The program runs from September through March.

I have something at the Mom’s Homeroom Board that I need help with.  There is a reader who has a question about transitioning from homeschool to public school.  If anyone has any experience with this, please go here to leave your thoughts.  To sign in, you just need your e-mail address (will remain private) and a “handle.”  THANK YOU!

Jo-Lynne of Musings of a Housewife wrote an awesome post on the ins and outs of Twittering.  VERY HELPFUL.  Especially to those of us Tweets who are Twits.  🙂

I wanted to share this video that was presented at our church service on Sunday.  AMEN AND AMEN.

Happy Monday!
