A Flash in the Pan

When I lived in Los Angeles, I had a full set of cast iron cookware that I had procured from an estate sale.  It’s not that I was all that adept at cooking, but I loved the vintage look and feel of all-iron skillet ware.

And since I was single and living alone in Los Angeles, I justified the purchase as double usage cookware/weaponry.

It was fortunate that I never broke a toe.

After I married, I lugged the set of iron cookware with me, wherein it began to get some real use as I attempted to keep another person fed and alive.  I loved that set.

Alas, when we moved from California to Florida, every pound counted, so the cast iron cookware had to go.

I’ve dearly missed it, especially this time of year when I have cornbread on my mind.

Imagine my delight when Walmart began carrying The Pioneer Woman’s dishes and cookware.  So this last weekend I happily threw this into my cart.

Her brightly colored display makes me smile every time I pass it in the store.  I’ve been a fan since she first started blogging.  I want to take whatever vitamins she takes to have THAT MUCH ENERGY.

Let the Thanksgiving cooking begin.

  • So happy to see a new post 🙂

LOVE PW’s stuff. My hubby prefers I walk past the display looking the other way. LOL

    • Seriously, I’ve been on the Walmart.com making my wish list for Christmas. There are PW products that are not in the store. #winning

  • I just got one too!! I’m so excited!! And it’s super good to see a new post. 😊

  • Welcome back! I hope this is just the beginning 🙂

  • I have missed reading your posts-welcome back! How is your son doing-does he still have an affection for all things vacuum cleaner related? My hubby is now the director over all Hoover products, so I occasionally think how much your son would love my hubby’s job. 😀

    • We’ve been in the dinosaur phase for over 2 years. No end in sight. I miss the vacuum phase. I do not miss the toilet phase. 😉 And Hoover is my friend, btw.

  • I’m so happy you’re back!! I love my cast iron! I have three cast iron pans. My kids tried to kill my tiniest skillet by putting it in the dishwasher (Noooooooooo!!!!) but I googled how to restore it, so it’s all good as new now.

I hope you’re doing well – and I hope this is the beginning of lots more posts 🙂

  • I’m so glad you are blogging again. I had a friend tell me the same thing at church last week. She missed my blogging. It’s been well over a year, and though I only had something like 5 followers the fact that she even thought about it touched me. 🙂 Someone shared with her my testimony from when you did your “Testimony Carnival”. She said it really helped her and she went back and read all of my past posts. Brave woman; I only wish the rest were as “spiritually uplifting” as that one. The rest are pretty much food, homeschooling, sweet moments with the then young nephew, food, and rants. And did I mention food? 😉

We are literally in our last week of homeschooling high school. Graduation is set for December 5th and then my status of “Veteran Homeschooler” is official. 😉 Maybe I’ll pick up again then.

  • I’m drooling over the cook book holder! 🙂
