My mind is a vast wilderness

by Fiddledeedee on September 26, 2012

Because I’m nothing if not cerebral, my week has been spent anticipating and then viewing all my old television favorites, plus a new one.  The new show that I’ve discovered is Revolution, which appeals to the disaster loving scenario that I’m so fond of.  The only problem is that I now have an uncontrollable urge to stockpile fruit cocktail.  Revolution may well take the place of my beloved Jericho, which suffered an early demise, in my humble television watching opinion.

And of course I’m riveted this season to Survivor: Philippines, so that I can watch my friend Lisa brave the wilds and I can thereby live vicariously through her. From the comfort of my barkolounger.  I did tune into the season premiere of Dancing With the Stars, but frankly, I can’t commit to it this season.  I can’t even link to it I’m so apathetic.

And I fear that American Idol may be dead to me as well, because while I love Keith Urban, there isn’t enough duct tape in the world that can hold me down while I’m forced to watch Mariah or Nicki Minaj.

I’ve watched the first two new episodes of Parenthood.  I cried through both.  It’s going to be a long sad season, I fear.  But I will not miss an episode.  And I love the addition of Ray Romano.  Lastly, of course I’m anxiously awaiting the return of Once Upon A Time.

What is your must see t.v.?  I may have viewing gaps to fill.

Revolution- LOVE!
NCIS- I am back after a few dry years.
NCIS: LA- new fav.
Blue Bloods- I share a b-day with my crush Tom Selleck, so how could I miss it?
Parenthood- I have it in DVR and will see what happens tonight. With tissue by my side..
Once upon a Time and Grimm- love them both, though very different. My friend Linda Crow convinced me to give Grimm another shot, so glad she did!
And with 82 things set to my DVR (with different seasons running now, it is hard to keep up with them all), I am quite addicted.

Also watching Survivor. :-)

You are the second person to recommend Revolution and compare it to Jericho. I do believe I need to watch it and give it a try. :-)

Parenthood, Criminal Minds (hate the blood and gore, but LOVE the BAU team and their relationships with each other) and … maybe … Grey’s Anatomy. Been a die hard fan since season one, but without the sweet Mark Sloan eye candy don’t know if I’ll last this year.

Revolution! – Hubby compared it to Jericho.
Parenthood – I bawled almost entirely during the last episode.
Waiting for Once Upon a Time to start back up.
Up All Night – The two leads have great chemistry

Anything I can catch on the Netflix. I’ve gone through Drop Dead Diva (love Brooke!), White Collar (a huge favorite…love Matt!) and Burn Notice (started out slow – Michael looked like a mouth breather and I almost couldn’t get past it…I did, and I love it now). I’m working my way through Parenthood now, and not being very productive once 8:00 p.m. hits. I’m not sure what I’ll do once I’m through the seasons available. Cross my fingers and hope Netflix adds more quickly! I can’t watch any of them on regular tv as I’ll have missed a season or two. Arghhhhh……

Time to see what else is in the queue! Tried Friday Night Lights, but it just seems so dark….is it always night time in Texas? That show moves so fast it wants to give me a seizure trying to keep up. Wonder if Jericho or Once Upon a Time are available on the Netflix yet….

Revolution is awesome, likely because it’s produced by the same JJ Abrams and Bad Robot who brought us Lost. Ditto with Once Upon a Time, which also has a connection with the writers of Lost…

Makes me want to go off and buy some more of this:

Revolution – love it! I’m with you about Jericho, I was sad to see it go.
Criminal Minds, Grimm, CSI, Persons of Interest and of course Survivor.

Big Bang Theory!!

And also, Amazing Race. I love seeing all the countries they go to, the game challenges they have to accomplish to move forward, and then the inevitable culture clashes that come up too!! I keep track of the places they show that I want to hit one day when money is no longer an issue…

Revolution-my new favorite!
Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice
Scandal and Real Housewives (NY and BH-don’t judge me)!
Also watching Mad Men on Netflix!

NCIS – will be sad to see it go off the air. Not sure how many more seasons they can hang on. (But I so love me some Mark Harmon.)
Pretty much anything on USA – Burn Notice, Psych, White Collar, Covert Affairs
And we are huge Mentalist and Castle fans over here.

Oh my, the list is long:
Person of Interest – Love John
Survivor – Go Lisa
NCIS – also Mark Harmon fan
Criminal Minds – Love Dr Ried and how Morgan and Garcia interact
Switched at Birth (on ABC Family) – can’t imagine happening
And looking forward to checking out Chicago Fire!

Agreed about Jericho! Not sure if Revolution will capture my attention or not. Then again, I’ve only seen the first episode. I’m also awaiting Once Upon A Time. My other favorites are Castle, Grimm, and Bones.

Downton Abbey, NCIS, Bones, Big Bang Theory, Person of Interest, Modern Family, and, most recently, Bunheads. We have also run through many things on Netflix and I own the entire series sets of Gilmore Girls and West Wing (LOVED that show, which was also very educational for the politically ignorant high schooler I was at the time)

Wow, you actually know someone on Survivor? And here I’ve been recording whole seasons of Hawaii Five-0 and ranting to my DISH coworkers, family, and friends just because I know a girl who signed up to be an extra on Hawaii Five-0. I have the Hopper DVR, which has tons of recording space, and I love that I can save whole seasons, but really I’m just looking for the two second clip where my friend stands in the background. The fact that you actually know someone who’s featured on a TV show, especially one as intense as Survivor, is awesome. Have you heard of a balut? It’s a food from the Phillipines, and it might be a long shot, but I could see eating a balut as one of the challenges on Survivor this year.
