For the sake of full disclosure, I’ll admit that I’m not a foodie. Foodie is a term I’ve seen thrown around the blogosphere, and I’ve always assumed that it is someone who is knowledgeable about food, cooking, and devotes a good deal of time sharing their knowledge with others.
Nay. I am not a foodie.
I do like to eat, and goodness knows I am all about providing three squares a day to the people that I live with. But truth be told I’m flying by the seat of my control top pantyhose most days at dinner time.
This is why I rely on outside help.
Recently I’ve found aid in the form of a website called The Dish, from ConAgra Foods.
The Dish has a First Look, First Taste section, which is a resource for bloggers, helping them create content and offering support through a panel of ConAgra food experts who are available to answer questions. They offer information on seasonal recipes, recipe resources, expert information, and the latest promotions and products from ConAgra Foods (the products and promotions area is only for members, but you need only have a website to apply).
Let me tell you a little about my relationship with ConAgra Foods. I do try to make most of our meals with fresh ingredients, as we’ve adopted a healthier eating habit. But I’m human. I do rely on some (not many) pre-packaged foods to help me with some of the short cuts I may need.
I also like to keep items such as canned goods for hurricane preparedness since we live in Hurricane Alley, Florida. Which is right next to Alligator Row.
ConAgra Foods makes a few of my favorite shelf staples such as Hunt’s, Gulden’s, Orville Redenbacher’s, and RO*TEL. Some of my favorite freezer products are Hebrew National, Alexia, and Egg Beaters (yes, you can freeze Egg Beaters).
I’ve noticed over the last year as I’ve gotten serious about couponing with a purpose, that ConAgra Foods works very closely with my local favorite grocery store to provide coupons that go along with the store’s advertised specials. This way I am able to stock up on needed items at very reasonable prices. As a frugal shopper, I appreciate that.
Another website sponsored by ConAgra Foods that has become my number one go-to website for recipe ideas is ReadySetEat.com. This is one of the easiest recipe sites to navigate I’ve found in quite a while.
You simply choose a Collection by Dish Type, such as Slow Cooker Recipes, and you are taken to a page which tells you at a glance the prep time, cook time, and total number of ingredients. There are some beautiful pictures to accompany each recipe, so you know WHAT IT’S SUPPOSE TO LOOK LIKE. I find this helpful. As my works of culinary art seldom turn out like I imagined they should look.
This is a picture of their Lemon-Garlic Chicken recipe. And now I’m hungry…
For more recipe and cooking ideas, I invite you so sign-up and become a member of The Dish. For up to the minute information, you can also follow @ConAgraDish on Twitter, as well as request product samples from the First Look, First Taste section of The Dish.

The recipes!!!
Great, now I’m hungry.
The Recipe Resources section would be the most useful to me.
The ReadySetEat looks interesting, but so does the First Look, First Taste. I may sign up for that!
I love how it tells you what is in season each month. I try to plan meals around fresh veggies and fruits each month and this was a great help. It doesn’t give specific recipes but does list fruits and veggies in two separate columns.
I would probably use the recipes most often.
seasonal recipes!

The recipe finder is great. I love that it tells the number of recipes as I am more likely to create something that doesn’t require a lot of ingedients.

i don’t consider myself a “foodie” either – not the expert kind, but I love to cook and I love to eat. From the ConAgra site, The Dish, I like the Seasonal Spotlight section. I’m sure to be returning to it for my own household cooking ideas as well as blog ideas.
