Bieber Fever

As a weary parent, I live for those moments when I can embarrass my children.  And if it’s in public?  Additional points.

On a recent outing I made a discovery and asked Fiddledaddy to capture the moment for all time.

Emme could not have been more horrified.  And I tell you, if I could have figured out a way exit the store unnoticed with my discovery, I would have.  (Joking.  Sort of.)

When Jensen later spied the photo on my computer, he made a bee-line to Fiddledaddy.  “DADDY!  Is mommy in love with Justin Beaver?  Does she want to MARRY him?”

“No son, she wanted to marry daddy.”

“WHHHEEEWWW.” (Exaggerated sigh of relief.  All around.)

Back in the day, it was Donny Osmond who sent my heart a flutter.

Who was your secret youthful crush?

  • Parker Stevenson {sigh}

  • Rick Springfield – actually saw him in concert a couple of years ago and HE TOUCHED MY HAND!!! And oh my, that man has aged well! 😉

  • Harrison Ford (yuck now), Dirk Benedict, Duran Duran. And you are SO cute in that picture.

  • Oh my… so many. LOL… Mostly it was Shaun Cassidy when I was younger; LOVED the Hardy Boys. And as a teenager it was C. Thomas Howell. I had so many of his photos/posters on my wall it looked like a shrine. 😉

  • Hi DeeDee, thanks so much for coming by my blog and you’re sweet comment! I loove your post , haha, made me laugh. and my crush was Donny Osmond too! Is that a picture of you with him, oh I would of given my right arm and leg to take a picture with him!!!! hugs Patti!

    • Patti,

You’re so welcome. I love your art work. I saw it in Charlie’s bedroom and fell instantly in love. Lisa speaks so highly of you. 🙂 Please consider a giveaway on my blog at some point?

And yes, that was me. I was 11, he was 13. My mother sneaked me and my best friend into rehearsal when they were playing at Cincinnati Gardens in 1971. Swoon.

  • Harrison Ford forever.

  • Donny Osmond. And who could forget Tom Selleck? Oh yeah.

  • I’ll have to throw my vote for Donny Osmond into the ring too. At least in adolescence.

In the interest of total disclosure (which is the theme of this blog, right?) I took the “youthful” crush syndrome with me into my 20’s with a “young adult” crush on Bruce Boxleitner. I didn’t miss a single episode of “Scarecrow and Mrs. King” in the 80’s, still watch it today on DVD. When my boys were little they watched it with me to see Scarecrow’s cool Corvette.

Before I get too far down memory lane I need to get my mind back on work !!!

  • Confessing my crush will show my age……oh, what the heck, everyone can see it anyway!! Here goes: FRANKIE AVALON, sigh!

  • Bobby Shirman from “Here Comes the Brides” had 2 walls of my room and the other 2 walls were for Davie Jones of the Monkeys. Oh how my heart would melt for them…….

  • I was a Strange Girl. Oh, sure, I went through my Michael J. Fox, Kirk Cameron, and Ricky Shroeder phase. But by my late teenage years, I was a throw back. My walls were PLASTERED with Jim Morrison of the Doors, and James Dean. I had a life-size cutout of James Dean in my room. I wanted to be Natalie Wood. So instead, that’s what I named my second daughter. Now I just have to pray that aside from being talented, her life is really nothing like Natalie’s Wood’s.

  • Donny Osmond! I got to “meet” him once…best day of my life. LOL He was signing autographs at a mall after he put an album out. It was just a kind of hi-here’s-your-autograph-now-move-on-deal…but I loved it. 🙂

  • Donny Osmond, Parker Stevenson, Erik Estrada, Leif Garrett….just a few of the ones I remember! lol

  • Donny Osmond was my first crush. I had some of the same pictures on my wall that you did! Oh how I worried about him when he had his emergency appendectomy. I used to swoon over “Puppy Love” and dream he was singing it to me.

  • Kirk Cameron was a big one for me. Like Sarah, I’d say Michael J. Fox too. Mostly though was a nameless model on a poster on the ceiling above my bed, he had beautiful ice blue eyes. 🙂

  • Shaun Cassidy….I had SC shirt, jacket AND pants! You know you are a fan if you have pants with their face on them!

In high school it was 4/5 of Duran Duran. My room looked like the 80’s British invasion!

  • John Stamos. Even sent away for his autographed picture.

  • Oh, it was definitely Donny! My wall was plastered with Tiger Beat pin-ups as well! And David Cassidy was a distant second.

  • OH MY GOSH!!!! We had the same exact room!!!! (Except mine was plastered with John Stamos’ face) I still think he’s the dreamiest.

  • PS I had Donny on a flight back in the day when I was still popping open cokes at 30,000 feet. He was super nice and friendly and not at all bothered by all the people who approached him to ask for autographs and whatnot. And he was still pretty cute 🙂
