It is so stinkin' hot here in TX that when Hubs grilled the other night his grill heated up to 9000* and burned the grill clean not to mention the metal covers that cover the fire so food doesn't drop/drip directly into the fire. Yeah he will be replacing those! Hope you had a great 4th.

I did mine just last week after my husband decided he could cook cheese toast. He did indeed cook cheese toast and then left dripping cheese all over the place. Wonderful just wonderful since I didn't discover it until I turned on the oven to cook and the house started smelling. Not to worry...he's still alive.

Hugs!

Self cleaning is a total myth! And then the house stinks of smoke forever. I now scrape the burned on gunk, then vacuum it out if I can. I once used a steamer to try to steam it. There really is NO good way to clean it.

Love it, DeeDee. Of course, now I'm thinking that I really need to clean my own oven. Thanks a lot. Summertime in Phoenix? It's sooo not happening today. ;)

Wait, they make SELF cleaning ovens???? I need one of those! Especially since I just realized you can't even see through that little window into my oven. You know, for when we do shrinky dinks and such...

Ha! That's funny. I hear you can get a good deal on new construction these days. Instead of tediosly cleaning it might be a good idea to buy a new house. Hopefully the air conditioner doesn't revolt next. Feeling your pains from a very hot Texas! (I usually do the self clean oven right after Christmas dinner where I get a day to turn off the heater.)

This is hysterical! I was laughing in every paragraph and gasping for air by the end. Good stuff!

(And I can completely relate. Every time I turn the oven on the preheat, my family plays the "what's that smell?" game, as I knowingly smirk.)
