My Designer Is Faded Glory

The Homeschool Blog Awards announced the winners this morning, and It Coulda Been Worse came in first In the Funniest Homeschool Blog and the Best Nitty Gritty Homeschool Blog Categories.

I’d like to thank my children for the opportunity to homeschool them. Instead of, say, requesting to attend military school. Which is always an option, I gently remind them.

I’d like to thank Fiddledaddy for working so hard to keep me in the manner to which I’ve become accustomed. And at home so that I can homeschool my children. And eat bon-bons on my couch.

I’d like to thank God for giving me the strength to get up each morning to homeschool my children. And the patience. Which by the way, God, if your listening, I could you an extra helping of today. Along with a little relief from the HORMONAL roller coaster I’m riding, thankyouverymuch.

And I’d like to thank you all, my friends, cyber-friends, and family for voting for me. And for all of your encouragement. You bless me every single day.

The competition was stiff. I was up against some wonderful blogs. In the Funniest Category, I won by only a small margin. And I’ve discovered a couple of new blogs that I really like, Fish In My Hair, and Hilltop Academy. Still His Girl was also in that category, but I already adore her.

In the Nitty Gritty category, I was up against Amy’s Humble Musings. I’ve met Amy in real life. We were in the same homeschool group briefly a few years ago. Before I even knew what a blog was. She is one talented gal. I’ve been stalking her blog for the last year or so. She has 6 children, for crying out loud. Her insight floors me.

As far as the campaign promise that I made to a few of you, you know, the one that if I should win anything I promise not to talk about anything gross on my blog anymore.

Campaign promises are meant to be broken.

If I couldn’t talk about gross stuff, my blog would read something like this.

“I have no idea what I had for breakfast.”
“Or lunch.”
“And dinner involved a Metamucil chaser.”

(cue the crickets)

See what I mean?

Anyhoo, I’m honored. Thank you again. And thank you to all the gals at the HSBA site for their hard work. They’ve taken a lot of grief this last month. It’s you girls that deserve an award. In my opinion.

  • Congrats, Dee Dee! Well deserved on both counts!

  • Congrats on your win!!! I admire anyone who homeschools. My heart is intrigued by the idea but I just don’t think I have the patience to do it… Just the afternoons of homework, with Genny, make me want to shove my head through our sliding glass door…

  • The title of this post and everything after “My blog would read like this” is EXACTLY why you totally deserve the title of Funniest. I am still giggling.

And your sweet words just made my day. But I adore you more.

Congrats, girl. Thanks for making our lives a little more fun. And gritty, I guess.

  • After wiping tears of hilarity from my eyes, I sometimes read blips from your blog to my husband, who often just doesn’t get it. He also doesn’t get why one would artfully arrange Christmas cookies on a festive platter instead of dumping them all into a bowl. I could write a post about this. Perhaps I will.

    Anyway, you deserve this award!!

  • Hi! Just wanted to say congratulations! I’ve enjoyed finding your site as well. It’s nice to know that there are some with the same strange, twisted sense of humor out there. I wanted to wait until that nail-biting competition was over, so it wouldn’t look like I was fraternizing with the “enemy”. =) I’ll definitely be back…

  • “DeeDee, over here!”

“DeeDee- how’s it feel to win/”

“Tell me D2, you’ve just won two amazing Homeschool Blog awards… what are you going to do now?”

Just wanted to make sure that, even in Armpit, FL you had your Red Carpet Press room time.

Congrats darlin’! Couldn’t have happened to a groseer, I mean, nicer gal.

  • YAY!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad you won!

  • Congratulations, DeeDee!!

  • Congratulations! I’ll have to check out the other bloggers you mentioned now.

  • Congratulations! And be careful when praying for patience–every time I start asking for more I discover I’m pregnant. 😉

  • Congrats!

The bad thing is that there is not enough time in my day to read all of the great blogs out there! Tragic!

  • Are you going to Disney World? Yippee! Congrats!

  • Congrats!! Lurv ya darlin’ blawg – keep it up! No pressure or anything. 😉

  • I’m de-lurking to say congratulations! Both wins were well-deserved. I truly enjoy reading your blog! Keep it up!
