I'm not sure how I got here...I linked and linked and linked...but I'm glad I found you! Great posts!

I have a 1 year old and 4 year old. The last shopping trip included a major meltdown. I'm thinking an early morning trip is sounding pretty good!

I think Lynn Marie just hit the nail on the head. It helps if you're a morning person. Which I am. Usually. When Junior doesn't keep me up all night. Like last night, sadly.

I am one of those horrible morning people who wake up bright eyed at 5am! My poor husband can't stand it but I am up and have a load in the washer, dog, cat, fish and turtle all fed, showered and make up on by 6:30am EVERY DAY. I love hitting the food store by 7 am where I met up with 4 other morning people who have also been up for a at least an hour and a half like me. We all wait by the door smiling and comparing shoping list to be greeted by Sam, the guy who unlocks the door and calls us all by name as we walk in and head over to the deli where Gus greets us with " The coffee is expecially good today folks - hope you enjoy it". We all get a cup and head out to gather our goods. After about 45 minutes, we meet at the only check out to pay for our goods, say a final good by and head home to houses full of still sleeping members of our families. It will be a few more hours before they get up but oh what a loverly morning it has been so far!! So much nicer to talk to other "Morning People" than my husband who I love but only grunts in the morning.
PS At 8pm don't ask me my last name because I'm asleep on the couch. I don't do evenings.

I too thrive on shopping alone. But usually end up taking at least one of the kids with me or most times we just grin and bear it by taking them all with us..sometimes its good..and well a lot its not. Thats the joys!

That is a great idea! I have an early morning Saturday meeting each week, and when we don't have sports, I love to stop in ALONE to pick up our weekly groceries. It's still pretty empty at 9am.

Wow. Really impressive. I've never thought about going that early before - but I'm sure it would be a lot more pleasant than the usual Walmart run. To be able to concentrate on what I'm buying, I also try to do my "big" shopping alone - if I don't, I come home with a random assortment of stuff and have to go back again. :) And that is NOT GOOD. At all.

Oh. My. Lord. I am all for grocery shopping alone. Seriously. I refuse to do it with my children. Now, I have learned to never say 'never'. But, I have to tell you, Dee Dee....in all honesty....I can see myself forcing my children to dig for worms in the backyard to satisfy their hunger before I get up at 5:30 to go to Super Wal- Mart. I applaud your effort! Heck, I'm going to have my husband send my Mother's Day gift to you! :) ;)

Awesome plan, and I agree about the grocery game. You can definitely do that yourself.

I'm impressed you can do bi-monthly trips. I'm there every week. I try and plan but there's always something that comes up--this week it's Science Fair stuff.

I always tell myself I have to start doing this and never get around to it, then I pay the price with the store full of pushy people at a time I call "nightmare shopping hour." I'm definitely going to give your method a try, it sounds great. Thanks for sharing! =)
