Party On!

It’s so nice to be included in a party that doesn’t involve a pinata, a big stick, and blindfolded 5 year olds with a thirst for violence, while high on Koolaid and cupcakes.

I really look forward to getting together with old girlfriends, meeting new gals and having stimulating conversation about cerebral topics. Well, around here, we may start out sounding all educated and intelligent, but the verbiage generally deteriorates to discussion involving getting old, boogers, vomit , diaper changes and menstruation. Not necessarily in that order.

When I was single, I hosted a party every Sunday night in Los Angeles for my girlfriends who were mostly from Texas. We called ourselves “Texas Ladies Night.” We sat around the table and ate, played cards, giggled, ate, drank margaritas, ate, and shared our dreams and our lives. We’re all married now with enough children between us to start our own school. While many of us have moved away, we still keep in touch. I’m on a whole different coast. I miss them so much. I know that some of my posse read my blog, so here’s a shout out to ALL THE TEXAS LADIES NIGHT GALS!!!!! “Viva Las Vegas!” What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. That’s all I’m sayin’.

Girlfriends are so important. Our sweet husbands can only take so much “communication.” Am I right, girls? That’s why it’s so wonderful to get together. On Sunday night, the food staple that I served was a delicacy known simply as “Sausage Balls.” Sometimes we threw in a side of Nachos. I apologize, but my Margarita drinking days are long gone. One drink and I’m face down in the shag carpet. That would make for a lousy hostess. The Sausage Balls are wonderful, I know. Here’s the recipe:

Roll of Sage Jimmy Dean Sausage (Mild)
Bisquick
Grated Cheddar Cheese

I have no clue as to the amounts. Just smoosh it all together and form balls. Throw them on a cookie sheet and shove into a 375 degree oven until they smell good. Or start smoking.

My Cookbook will be out some time next year, ya’ll.

Well, enjoy yourselves, mingle and don’t leave any leftovers. I can’t be trusted with them.

Oh, while you’re here, I’m hosting the “Home Keeping” section of the new and improved “Faithlifts” newsletter. If that doesn’t make you snort Crystal Lite lemonade through your nose, I don’t know what will. But as you can see from the state of my place, I would love for you all to submit some articles for publication in the “Home Keeping” section. The instructions for submitting are listed on the site.

And if that’s not enough, Michelle over at Scribbit is having another “Write-Away” contest. The deadline to enter is midnight Saturday, March 10th. This month’s topic is “Childhood Memories.” The guest judge is a famous celebrity. In her head. Okay, it’s me. Michelle is going to send me everything anonymously, so I won’t know who wrote what. Go get the information here.

You’re welcome back anytime! This is one party that never seems to end! Head over to 5 Minutes For Mom and visit more Party Mamas.

Hi, stopping by from the party. I think it’s great that you homeschool. The sausage ball recipe sounds great, I’ll have to try it. I guess I can “smoosh” as good as anybody!

I love visits to your place, party or not. The sausage balls are my kind of snack–easy to make and no fiddly measurements. Thanks! Have a blessed day.

I must try those. Your cookbook sounds a bit like mine.

Okay, you turned me into a blubbering idiot. Your Texas Girls Night sounds divine. (although I’m not from Texas…and in fact my state is a big Texas rival in football. “The Huskers feasted on Longhorns last night. And for dessert they had a little Aggies.” type of thing) I gotta tell you, I am so craving that type of friendship and get togethers. Unfortunately I am not in a place to have it happen. Most of my friends think I’m a bit daft (wonder where they get that idea???) and crazy. Hence I blog.

Hi there! I was homeschooled and have deep admiration for those who choose to do this. Go you!! Those sag balls sound delicious and seeing how my boys are huge sag fans I may just have to give it a try to shake them up a bit. It sounds like you cook the way I cook!! I just came by for the party and had a blast. If you get a minute come on by my place for a sampling of chocolate. Happy Partying!
