I’m Just Happy

I just found out that I’ve been nominated for the “Happiest Blog Award.” That made me happy, indeed. But perhaps for a reason you might not expect.

I have battled a pretty significant case of The Blues, for most of my life. It seemed to worsen after the birth of my first daughter. It could have been hormones, sleep deprivation, my mom’s untimely death, or most likely all of the above. Anyone who suffers from The Blues, knows that it can come upon you like a very dark, ugly cloud, and hang on like an unwelcome houseguest. And while I do indeed know how very blessed I am, some days it’s just all I can do to put one fuzzy slippered foot in front of the other.

My faith has been a tremendous combatant against The Blues. And so has my family and close friends. And what has truly given me respite from this unwelcome affliction, is this blog. The reasons that I blog are threefold. In light of the Trinity, an important number. First, I blog to chronicle my journey as a wife and mother, so that my children will be horrified have documentation of their lives while they were small. Second, this blog absolutely forces me to find the humor in situations that might otherwise sideline me. And perhaps most important, I feel my mission right now is to bring a smile to other moms who are in the trenches as well.

So, this nomination means the world to me. I don’t know who nominated me, but thank you. You brought a smile to my face.

(There are some very fun categories, and nominations are open until Jan. 31st.  The voting wil be from Feb. 1-6.)

Congrats DeeDee!!! This is a nomination that you definitely deserve because, seriously, I cannot wait to stop by each day because I know that I will leave smiling and laughing :o ) And I will think about your posts during the day and get the giggles again! I enjoy you so much that I even went back and read all the archives~~let’s face it, you’re loved!

I gotta go vote for my chuckle of the day!

Okay, fine! Supposedly I am not allowed to vote yet…pooey on that! I am usually a patient kinda gal, but ever since I’ve been old enough to vote I just can’t get enough of putting my two cents in! I will go again and seek out a poll where maybe I can vote on who was the hunkiest in the ’70′s~~hmmm, who should I vote for?

BTW~did you relive your childhood yet over @ donny.com?

If not, stop reading now! Go on….git!!

Amy,
Thank you for your sweet words!! I posted an addendum to the post about voting.

I just went to Donny.com!!!! Oh. My. Goodness. That was awesome. My favorites were “If”, and “Alone Again.” I wanted him to throw in a few of his own love songs from the 70′s. But I suppose “Sweet & Innocent” would be just “Weird & Creepy” at his age. :)

Congratulations! I can’t remember if I’ve commented here before (I only found your blog last week) but if not – Hi! :)
I’m a mom in the trenches so I’m impressed….hope you win!

You definitely deserve it. Your words make me smile and even laugh outloud. I love the way you take the regular (and, ok, sometimes NOT so regular!) stuff from your day and make it into an entertaining and uplifting story for us to read. And that is something all of us mommies need. :)

Congrats- you have my vote!

Hooray! I love that you put out there that you struggle with the Blues, too. Honesty is what women need from their friends, not perfection. (Who likes a perfect woman?) Thanks for sharing that–I’m sure there are TONS who can identify with that!!

You’ve got my vote:)

Well deserved, and I totally know what you are saying, very much so!! Congrats!

Wooohooo!!! Go you. I am tickled that you got nominated and thrilled that the hapiest was a blessing for you. I didn’t nominate anyone because I just found out about it (been a bit crazy busy) and was surprised no one had nominated you as funniest, though I think I was even more surprised to find myself in the best commenter category. Hubby and I looked at each other and asked what that meant. :) Either way it’s an honor and I am thrilled to find all my favorite blogs already nominated for all kinds of goodness.

Thanks for being so honest about the “blues” That is one thing I have appreciated in the blogging world…finding others that have been surviving like I have and can keep going. It gives me a connection that I find hard to get elsewhere sometimes. God has been good to me but right now I am not blogging much. Seem to do better just at reading others posts!!!

Well, I can SO identify with having the blues and not even knowing where they came from. Thanks for being so honest.

You totally deserve ‘the happiest blog’. You make me smile everytime I read because I can so relate to your life – it’s crazy – and, I mean that in the most uplifting way possible :)

Oh, also I can completely relate to having the “blues”, and blogging does help- and I have only been doing this for a month! :)

You’re a very deserving nominee!

Like other commenters, I’d like to thank you for being honest about The Blues. When postpartum depression hit me after the birth of my first son, I didn’t know what was wrong with me and had no one to talk to. It’s so important for women to know that they’re not the only ones!

I haven’t gotten around to making any nominations, but you were my uncontested choice for this category as well, so obviously you have my vote. I also nominate you for “blog I’ll never stop reading.” You’re on my short short list! Congratulations! And again, what everyone else has said. Something about you sharing that made me respect even more how determined you are to give God your best, sometimes even when you may not “feel” it.
